how the bat got his wings

January 27th, 2008 by jen

The first post of the semester. I have a rather unimpressive panther walk animation that I could have posted a week ago, but I am full of lazy, and I forgot to grab the avi off the school computers.

Eh.

Here instead are some ideas I’m putting up for storyboarding the Cherokee story of how the bat got his wings.

amination assignment 3: the ball and the tail.

November 20th, 2007 by jen

Its done, although I wish I could do more with it. It looked a lot better when I shot it at school, but now I can see all the mistakes. Booourns.

I wanted to have a secondary animation of a butterfly, and had animated the ball to (kinda sorta) react to it, but it ended up not being enough time. Also, alternative name slate for my animations. Yes, Millie. Cheese is, undoubtedly, quite delicious.

character design: round 2 - posing

November 12th, 2007 by jen

So this is my character. I’ve been in this rut of cute for that I’m trying to break, so I decided to makethe greasiest possible character that I could think of. The original idea was a sort of Victorian style kidnapper, with a bowler hat and a burlap sack full of child, but I’m not unhappy with how this turned out. I especially like the idea that he’s the kinda guy who gets boozed up on someone’s grave. Classy.

more procrastinatorizing

November 11th, 2007 by jen

I spent all of Friday at Toronto’s wonderful Royal Winter Fair. I was sad because I didn’t want to do life drawing, and I had lost my wallet the day before… But it turned out to be a lot more fun that I would have ever expected, and I nearly came home with a bunny. However, I also learned that I am allergic to both hay and Canada’s godforsaken cold, so I think I might be coming down with something.

That, plus my ground state inability to focus on anything for more than 10 minutes, is making it hard to focus on my character poses. Which are due tomorrow. Boo.

Thats why I’m posting this guy:

His name is Bo Burnham, and his lyrics are BRILLIANT. I also love the little awkward/pleased look he gets whenever he makes a particularly racy pun. Search up his name on the YouTube to watch his other stuff. I highly recommend “My Whole Family…”. If I could rock wordplay like him, I’d hug myself to sleep every night.

Character poses and maybe some pictures from RWF up later.
